CESTiCC transports Kids2College Students to the World of Infrastructure

CESTiCC Outreach Coordinator Joe Alloway and Research Coordinator Sheng Zhao teamed up to present the world of transportation to two classes from Ladd Elementary at the annual Kids2College event. The class challenged the students to think creatively about transportation and the particular challenges we face in places like Alaska. The students gave lots of very good and creative suggestions for how we should address challenges such as thermal cracking and frost heave in our roads. After the class, Sheng took the students on a tour of our pavement lab and showed them the nitty gritty of working with asphalt pavement. We hope the students had a great time, and we hope we’ll be seeing them on campus in our classrooms and labs in about 7 years!
