Concrete poured for one of a kind strong floor at new Engineering facility
On Thursday, 400 yards of concrete were poured for the construction of the strong floor at the new Engineering Facility. The strong floor is one of the unique features of the new building and the first in the state of Alaska. The floor is 4 foot thick and has embedded anchors every 4 foot on center that allow engineers to push or pull on large beams, bridge girders, and even simulate lateral loads such as those experienced in an earthquake.
